EMERSON VE4003S2B10 Analog Input Card – Function & Detection
The EMERSON VE4003S2B10 is an analog input module designed for signal acquisition and conditioning in Emerson’s DeltaV Distributed Control System (DCS).
It converts field sensor signals into digital data for process monitoring and control.
1. Primary Functions
Analog Signal Detection & Conversion:
Accepts 4-20mA, 0-10V, RTD (Pt100, Pt1000), and thermocouple (J, K, T, etc.) inputs.
High-resolution 16-bit ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) for precise measurement.
Signal Conditioning & Isolation:
Provides galvanic isolation to protect against ground loops and electrical noise.
Built-in filtering & linearization for RTD and thermocouple signals.
Diagnostics & Fault Detection:
Detects open-circuit, short-circuit, and out-of-range signals.
Reports module health status (LED indicators & DeltaV software alerts).
Hot-Swappable & Redundant Operation:
Supports online replacement without system shutdown (for DeltaV S-series I/O).
Compatible with redundant configurations for high-availability systems.
2. Typical Applications
Process Industries (Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Power Plants) – Monitoring pressure, temperature, flow, and level signals.
HVAC & Building Automation – Sensor data acquisition for climate control.
Water/Wastewater Treatment – pH, conductivity, and dissolved oxygen measurement.
3. Technical Specifications
Input Channels: 8 channels (configurable per signal type).
Accuracy: ±0.1% of full scale (for 4-20mA).
Isolation: 1500V AC/DC channel-to-system isolation.
Update Rate: 100ms per channel (typical).
4. Troubleshooting & Detection
LED Indicators:
Green (OK): Normal operation.
Red (Fault): Wiring error or hardware failure.
DeltaV Diagnostics:
Use DeltaV Operate/Diagnostics to check signal health and calibration.
